We recently worked with someone frustrated by 1Password constantly prompting for a password on their iPad, but not on their iPhone. At first, it seemed like something was wrong with the app. But the solution turned out to be simple.
Even though 1Password syncs your data across devices, its security settings are managed independently on each one. That means settings like auto-lock timing, Face ID or Touch ID access, and password prompts may differ depending on the device.
And that’s by design.
One device might be used in a shared or public setting, while another is more secure and personal. Managing security per device gives users more control, but can also lead to confusion when an app doesn’t behave the same way across the board.
If you notice an app acting differently on your phone, tablet, or computer, it doesn’t necessarily mean something’s broken. It might just be a matter of adjusting your settings.
Take a few moments to compare app preferences between devices, especially for apps that handle sensitive information. A small tweak might make things work more smoothly and reduce frustration.
